Assessment Mechanism

In order to ensure the learning outcomes of students in EMI courses, the following assessment mechanisms are implemented:

  • 1. Uniform examinations are conducted for compulsory subjects to analyze and compare the learning outcomes between EMI and non-EMI courses.
  • 2. Course instructors convert course grades into GPA scores and compare them with those of similar or equivalent non-EMI courses to evaluate student learning outcomes.

These strategies are implemented annually as part of routine work.

Student Performance

Student performance in EMI courses compared to other similar or equivalent non-EMI courses is assessed using the following methods:

  • 1. For project-based courses, the students' project outcomes, participation in international competitions, and research paper publications are collected and compared with those of students in similar or equivalent non-EMI courses to monitor their achievements in EMI courses.
  • 2. Continuous tracking of student internships and employer satisfaction to understand the students' professional competence in EMI courses.

These strategies are implemented annually since 2022 as part of routine work.

Stakeholder Engagement

Internal and external stakeholders are invited to participate in the planning, monitoring, and implementation of EMI strategies and policies. An advisory committee is established, chaired by the dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with vice deans and department heads as ex-officio members. Each semester, four faculty representatives, four student representatives, two administrative representatives, two industry advisors, and one faculty member with EMI teaching experience are invited to attend meetings since 2021.
